Description
The D-Perfect Mini Apex is a mini apex locator for electronic working length measurement during root canal treatment. It weighs 21 g and fits in the palm of your hand, so it stays close to the working field without crowding your tray.
What Is the D-Perfect Mini Apex?
D-Perfect describes this mini apex locator as an auxiliary device for root canal treatment. It measures the dynamic length from the instrument to the apex. As the file moves down the canal, the reading on the screen changes with it, so you can follow progress in real time.
The body measures 52.6 × 34.2 × 14.5 mm (2.07 × 1.35 × 0.57 in). That makes it one of the most compact formats for a dental apex locator. So this mini apex locator is a practical choice when bench space is limited or when you move between operatories.
Who Is It For?
- General dentists who perform root canal treatment and want a compact, easy-to-store unit.
- Endodontists who need a second, travel-ready portable apex locator.
- Multi-operatory, mobile and teaching clinics.
- Dental students learning working length determination.
How Does an Electronic Apex Locator Work?
An electronic apex locator closes a small electrical circuit through the patient. The lip hook touches the oral mucosa, and the file clip connects to the endodontic file in the canal. As the file advances, the device reads the change in electrical properties and shows the distance to the apex.
On this mini apex locator, a large number shows the length to the apex. At the same time, a colored bar graph shows the file position dynamically. Because of this dual display, you can check the result at a glance. In addition, an electronic reading works alongside radiographs; it does not replace them.
Key Features of the Mini Apex Locator
- Portable: 21 g with a compact 52.6 × 34.2 × 14.5 mm body.

- Two ways to connect: the measuring wire, or the extension wire for more reach.
- Simple controls: two side buttons, +/power and -/volume.
- Connection test: short the lip hook and the file clip; the screen shows “-2” when the connection is good.
- Adjustable reference point: set it with the + and – buttons.
Using the Mini Apex Locator in Root Canal Treatment
First, charge the unit and connect the measuring wire. Next, attach the lip hook and the file clip, then run the quick connection test. After that, clip the file, set your reference point, and advance the file slowly while you watch the display. For the full steps, see the Instructions to Use tab and always follow the manufacturer’s Instructions for Use.

Why Choose a Portable Apex Locator?
A full-size desktop unit needs space on the tray and a free outlet. By contrast, a portable apex locator like the Mini Apex is easy to carry between rooms, to store in a drawer, and to keep as a backup. You can even keep a mini apex locator in each operatory. It pairs well with hand files such as the Flexivo Dental C-File for early canal negotiation.

Mini Apex Locator FAQs
What is an apex locator used for?
An apex locator is an electronic device that helps you determine working length during root canal treatment. It shows how far the file tip is from the apex, and it works alongside radiographs rather than replacing them.
How does an apex locator work?
The lip hook and the file clip close a small electrical circuit through the patient. As the file moves toward the apex, the device reads the change in electrical properties and displays the distance. On the D-Perfect Mini Apex, you see a length number and a dynamic bar graph.
How do you use the Mini Apex locator?
According to the D-Perfect quick guide, you charge the unit, connect the measuring wire with the lip hook and file clip, and test the connection. Then clip the file, set the reference point with the + and - buttons, and advance the file slowly while you watch the display. Always follow the manufacturer's Instructions for Use.
How do I read the display?
The large number shows the length to the apex, and the colored bar graph shows the file position as it moves. Icons at the top show the volume and battery level.
How do I test the connection before use?
Turn the device on by holding the +/power button for 2 seconds, then touch the metal parts of the lip hook and the file clip together. The screen shows "-2" when the connection is good.
How long does the battery last, and how do I charge it?
It uses a DC 3.7 V / 180 mAh lithium battery. According to D-Perfect, battery duration is up to 7 days, depending on use. Charge it on the charging base or directly by cable with the DC 5 V, 2 A adapter.
How big and heavy is the Mini Apex?
It measures 52.6 × 34.2 × 14.5 mm (2.07 × 1.35 × 0.57 in) and weighs 21 g (0.74 oz), so it fits in your palm.
Can you use an apex locator on a patient with a pacemaker?
Check the contraindications in the manufacturer's Instructions for Use and follow the guidance of the patient's physician. Flexivo cannot give medical advice for individual patients.
How do I choose an apex locator for root canal treatment?
Think about where you will use it and what else you need. A portable apex locator such as the Mini Apex suits small spaces and multiple rooms. A desktop unit or an endo motor with an integrated apex locator may suit you better if you also want pulp testing or rotary control. Browse all dental apex locators at Flexivo.
