Woodpecker Ai-Pex is a 2-in-1 apex locator and electric pulp tester designed for precise working length measurement with reliable performance in dry or wet canals.
Description
Woodpecker Ai-Pex Apex Locator & Electric Pulp Tester (EPT)
The Woodpecker Ai-Pex Apex Locator is a modern, high-precision diagnostic device used in endodontics (root canal therapy) that also integrates a pulp vitality testing function. It is manufactured by Woodpecker Dental.
The Woodpecker Ai Pex Apex Locator’s main purpose is to accurately measure the working length of the root canal, which is essential for successful root canal treatment.
Key Features and Technology
2-in-1 Functionality (Apex Locator + Pulp Tester):
Apex Locator: Uses advanced Multi-Frequency Network Impedance Measurement technology for highly accurate root canal length determination.
Pulp Tester: Includes a Constant Current Electric Pulp Tester (EPT) to assess the vitality of the tooth pulp, which provides a more reliable measurement than thermal tests.
High Accuracy and Stability:
Utilizes a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) chip with an advanced digital circuit to ensure high precision (often cited as 98% accuracy) and faster information processing.
Features Auto-Calibration upon startup.
Measurement Reliability:
The multi-frequency technology allows for accurate measurements regardless of canal conditions—whether the root canal is dry, wet, or contaminated with blood or residual pulp. This provides flexibility during clinical procedures.
Endo Motor Connectivity (Integration):
The Ai-Pex can be connected to compatible endo motors (electric handpieces). This allows the clinician to have real-time observation of the file’s position on the screen during the shaping process and can activate automatic safety functions (like Auto Reverse or Auto Stop) when the file reaches the apical limit.
User Interface and Design:
Large Color Screen: Features a 3.8-inch LCD touch screen with a clear, multi-color display that visually indicates the file’s position relative to the apex.
Sound Recognition: Emits audible beeps that increase in frequency as the file tip nears the apical foramen, helping the dentist rely on sound in addition to visual feedback.
Magnetic Base: Has a magnetic adsorption base that is 360° rotatable for easy adjustment of the viewing angle.
The Ai-Pex is designed to streamline endodontic diagnosis and treatment by combining two critical measurement tools into one precise, user-friendly device.
Pulp Tester Mode – Electric Pulp Testing (PT Mode)
Constant Current Source: The device uses a Constant Current Source for electric pulp testing. Constant-current EPTs are superior to constant-voltage types in terms of accuracy for determining pulpal viability.
Procedure: To test pulp vitality, the device is switched to PT mode, the probe is coated with a conductive agent (like toothpaste), and placed at the 1/3 position of the tooth neck. The vitality is then determined by comparing the pulse values with adjacent teeth.
Pulp Probes: The device includes two different size pulp probes (a large 2.6 mm and a small 0.5 mm diameter) for convenient operation on different teeth.
Working Modes: There are 4 working modes available , with the quickest speed reaching maximum pulse intensity in 6.2 seconds.

Root Canal Length Measurement
Auto calibration after startup new digital circuit US central processing chip with DSP processing module 0.1% high precision components, information processing speed increased by 2.125 times

Accurate Measurement Of Root Canallength
Lowered environment requirements for root canal length measurement Suitable for various complex root canals Unaffected by blood and residual pulp, whether the root canal is dry or wet, it can automatically and precisely determine the position of apical foramen.

Constant Current Source Electric Pulp Testing
When the clinical need to determine the vitality of the root pulp arises, electric pulp test must be used.In the case of thermal pulp test (cold & heat),the cold and heat stimuli can only reach the coronary pulp and cannot test the vitality of the root pulp.

Brief Introduction Of Icons In Electric Pulp Testing Function(PT Mode)

How To Use The Pulp Vitality Test Function:
·Long press the function button to switch to PT mode ·Press the speed button to adjust to the suitable working mode ·Connect lip hook and probe ·Coat the head of probe with a layer of conductive agent (toothpaste, etc.) ·Place the probe at the 1/3 position of the tooth neck. Test the tooth and its adjacent tooth separately and compare the values when the patient feels tingling. ·Determine the pulp vitality based on comparative numerical analysis

Enable Working Length Control During Preparation When Connected To An Endo Motor
Connecting the Ai-pex to an Endo Motor that can be connected to Apex Locator allows real-time observation of the position of the file in the root canal during operation and activates many automatic functions (e.g. Auto Reverse).

Magnetic Adsorption Base
360° rotatable The viewing angle of the screen can be adjusted,no backlighting.

Large Color Screen & Sound Recognition
3.8 inch LCD touch screen Four-color display operation interface It is clinically recommended to make the measurement to the 0.0 position and then manually subtract 0.5~1 mm to obtain the final working length. Enable easier measurement. When the length indicator bar reaches a digital number below 1.5, the machine intermittently emits low-frequency beeps. The closer the tip is to the apical foramen, the quicker the sound is. When the tip reaches the apical stop, the machine emits continuous high-frequency beeps. The sound level can be adjusted as you wish.

Configuration
Not autoclavable Measuring wire (Soft texture, Long service life) Autoclavable File clip × 4 (Coated with biological silica gel) Lip hook × 5 (Made of medical-grade stainless steel) Apex locator probe × 2 Pulp vitality probe × 2

Two Probes In Different Sizes Delivers More Convenient Operation&Operation Condition
The large 2.6 mm diameter probe can be used on teeth with unexposed pulp and placed at 1/3 of tooth neck for testing. The small 0.5 mm diameter probe can be used on teeth with unexposed pulp and placed in the crown for testing, or on pulp- exposed teeth and placed at 1/3 of tooth neck for testing.
